He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role
As a Peer Support Worker, you'll use your lived experience of mental distress and recovery to support others on their wellbeing journey. Working across the Wellington-Kāpiti region, you'll provide compassionate peer support, advocacy, and guidance, helping individuals regain personal power and hope.
Key responsibilities include:
Offer one-on-one and group peer support
Use your journey to inspire others
Assist in creating personalised wellbeing plans
Work with diverse communities, including Māori and Pasifika
Collaborate with your team through coaching and reflection
This full-time role offers flexibility, generally Monday to Friday, with occasional after-hours support as needed.

You are someone who has navigated the challenges of mental distress or addiction and emerged stronger, with a passion for helping others do the same. You believe in the power of personal connection and mutual support to create positive change.
We're looking for someone who:
Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Certificate in Health & Wellbeing (Peer Support), Health, or Intentional Peer Support (IPS) training
Has experience working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, particularly within Māori and Pasifika communities
Brings positivity, encouragement, and a sense of humour to their work
Is committed to continuous personal and professional growth
Can reflect critically on their own experiences to support others in their journey to wellbeing
Demonstrates excellent time management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities
Holds a full NZ Driver's Licence
