Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa - Peer Services (formerly Mind & Body) is dedicated to strengthening whānau and communities using lived experience. Since 1998, we have provided peer-led support, advocacy, training, and consultancy, guided by hope, personal power, and connection.


We support people facing mental health and addiction challenges to take charge of their recovery and wellbeing. Our work includes de-stigmatising mental distress, reducing marginalisation, fostering social inclusion, and delivering mental health education in workplaces, schools, and organisations—supporting people move forward and reach their full potential.


He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role


You will lead a small, passionate Peer support team based in Wellington. The role will see you spending half of your time leading and managing the team, and the other half working directly with rangatahi, empowering and inspiring people on their journey to wellbeing. This role requires someone who has made sense of their own personal lived experience of mental distress and recovery and can use this experience to enhance their work and inspire others.


You will work 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives every day. Is there anything more awesome than that? He kōrero mōu | About You


If you bring along the following, we would love to hear from you:


  • At least 3 years' experience of working in the Peer sector or similar including 3+ years' experience in managing or providing leadership to others

  • Personal lived experience of experiencing mental distress and/or addiction and reflection on own wellbeing journey

  • Tertiary qualification at least equivalent to L4 Health and Wellbeing Certificate or be working towards one

  • A current First Aid Certificate including CPR (or willingness to obtain)

  • A real ability to connect and work with people from diverse backgrounds who access our services, and their family/whānau

  • Knowledge of and a commitment to developing connections with Māori and Pasifika communities

  • Advanced in MS Office suite and experienced with client information systems

  • Full New Zealand Drivers License and working rights in New Zealand
