Āu ake mahi | What you'll do
As the Tawa Recreation Centre continues to expand the programmes they deliver, we have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the team as a Recreation Assistant, focusing on officiating our men’s basketball league. This includes refereeing the adult basketball and netball leagues. This role will also support other operational needs such as developing and delivering other programmes, activities, and services to a high standard which meet the needs of the local community.
This role will be 15 hours per week and the specific roster pattern will be confirmed by the hiring manager at offer stage.

To enable success in this role, we’re looking for someone who:
Is a qualified basketball referee
Has customer service experience
Is passionate about the sport and recreation industry
Possesses a customer-focused and 'can do' attitude
Has great communication and people skills
Can work in a team and have fun
The hourly rate for this role is $28.95 per hour.

Pre-employment Checks

Please note this role is safety sensitive and will require you to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol, and health testing.
The Council uses the AS/NZ drug standard to determine the cut-off levels for drug testing. Some prescription drugs may be included within this standard.
