We have two opportunities at Orogen: one for a Civil Engineer / Civil Designer ready to build on existing experience, and one for a Graduate / Junior Civil Designer developing their technical foundations. Both offer meaningful project work and direct guidance from experienced engineers.

Civil Engineer / Civil Designer

This role suits someone with civil design experience who is ready to take greater responsibility for designs and project documentation.

You will prepare calculations, models, drawings, reports and specifications for earthworks, roading, stormwater, wastewater and water supply projects. Using Civil 3D, AutoCAD or comparable software, you will develop practical designs that respond to site constraints and project requirements.

You will contribute to feasibility and consenting work, coordinate with the wider project team, and participate in client and contractor discussions. Senior engineers will provide checking and guidance as your judgement and autonomy develop. We will also support relevant professional development and registration.

For this role, you will bring:

• A New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Civil), Bachelor of Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Engineering or similar relevant qualification.

• At least one year of civil design or related technical experience, including some New Zealand civil design experience, ideally in land development or infrastructure.

• Experience using Civil 3D, AutoCAD or comparable civil design software.

• Sound analytical skills and a practical approach to solving problems.

Graduate / Junior Civil Designer

This role suits a recent graduate, someone nearing completion of their qualification, or someone with early technical experience who wants to build a strong foundation in civil design.

Working under senior guidance, you will assist with calculations, models, drawings, reports and specifications for live projects. You will receive practical training in Civil 3D and AutoCAD, with regular checking and feedback as you develop your skills.

Your learning will extend beyond drafting. You will review survey and network information, join site investigations, contribute to project documentation and learn how design decisions work on the ground.

For this role, you will bring:

• A New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Civil), Bachelor of Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Engineering or similar relevant qualification, completed or nearing completion.

• An interest in land development, infrastructure and practical problem-solving.

• A willingness to learn our design software and quality processes.

• An organised approach, curiosity and confidence to ask questions.

Previous civil design experience is not required. CAD exposure is useful but not essential.

For either position, you will need clear written and verbal communication, a collaborative approach, a current full New Zealand driver licence and the current legal right to work in New Zealand.
