Orogen Limited
Full Time
CLOSING DATE BELOW IF SPECIFIED
The Role
We are seeking an Intermediate Licensed Cadastral Surveyor to join Orogen, working across the full lifecycle of land development, infrastructure, and cadastral projects throughout the lower North Island and beyond. This role offers a genuine balance of hands-on field surveying and high-quality technical delivery, supporting projects from early feasibility and consent, through construction, to final title issue.
At Orogen, cadastral surveying does not sit in isolation. Our surveyors are deeply involved in land development engineering, construction set‑out, and as-built certification, working closely with civil engineers, planners, contractors, and councils. You will be trusted to take responsibility for technically robust survey outcomes, while continuing to develop your leadership capability and commercial awareness within a growing consultancy.
This role is well-suited to a surveyor looking to progress their career, who values technical accuracy, professional judgement, practical problem-solving, and who enjoys contributing to the development of graduates and junior staff within a collaborative team environment
About Orogen
Founded in 2016, Orogen is a locally owned, multi‑disciplinary consultancy delivering surveying, civil engineering, and land development services. With offices in Tawa (Wellington), Kāpiti, and Palmerston North, we are known for technical excellence, practical solutions, and strong client relationships across the lower North Island.
What you will do
Deliver high‑quality cadastral and land development surveying across urban, rural, coastal, and complex development environments, producing LINZ‑ready survey datasets, Land Transfer plans, and Unit Title surveys to a consistently high standard.
Lead cadastral surveys and consent compliance, working closely with engineers, planners, councils, and LINZ to ensure legal titles, easements, and rights accurately reflect constructed works and protect long‑term infrastructure outcomes.
Undertake engineering and construction surveying, including earthworks control, infrastructure set‑out, as‑builts, and compliance surveys for roading, three‑waters, and residential developments—bridging the critical interface between design, construction, and legal title.
Apply modern survey technology and digital workflows, using GNSS, robotic total stations, laser scanning, UAVs, and high‑density spatial data to deliver intelligent, future‑ready survey outputs across CAD, GIS, and spatial platforms.
Manage survey data, control, and quality, producing robust, defensible survey information while contributing to the continual improvement of systems, QA processes, and technical standards.
Collaborate and communicate effectively, balancing field and office work while providing clear, pragmatic advice to clients, contractors, councils, and project teams.
Mentor and develop others, supporting graduate and junior surveyors and building capability across both traditional cadastral practice and modern digital surveying—while developing your own leadership and project delivery skills.
