Licensed Cadastral Surveyor (or almost there!)
Orogen Limited
Full Time
CLOSING DATE BELOW IF SPECIFIED
The Role
We are seeking a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor (could be recently licensed or close to being licensed) to join Orogen, working across a wide range of land development, infrastructure, and cadastral projects throughout the lower North Island and beyond.
This role offers a strong mix of hands‑on field surveying and supported technical delivery, with involvement across projects from early feasibility and consent, through construction, to final title issue. You will work closely with experienced Registered Professional and Licensed Cadastral Surveyors, along with a suite of other in-house disciplines, which support you in continuing to build confidence, judgement, and efficiency in your professional practice.
At Orogen, cadastral surveying is closely integrated with land development engineering and construction delivery. You will gain exposure to construction set‑out, as‑built surveys, and consent compliance, developing a practical understanding of how legal boundaries interface with real‑world development.
This role is ideal for a newly or recently licensed surveyor who values technical accuracy, enjoys problem‑solving, and is keen to continue learning within a supportive, technically strong team.
About Orogen
Founded in 2016, Orogen is a locally owned, multi‑disciplinary consultancy delivering surveying, civil engineering, and land development services. With offices in Tawa (Wellington), Kāpiti, and Palmerston North, we are known for technical excellence, practical solutions, and strong client relationships across the lower North Island.
What you will do
Assist in delivering cadastral and land development surveys across urban, rural, coastal, and development environments, producing cadastral datasets under guidance from senior surveyors.
Support cadastral surveys and consent compliance, working alongside engineers, planners, councils, and LINZ to ensure titles, easements, and rights align with consent conditions and constructed works.
Undertake engineering and construction surveying, including residential and civil set‑out, earthworks control, as‑built surveys, and compliance surveys for roading, three‑waters, and land development projects.
Develop confidence using modern survey technology and digital workflows, including GNSS, robotic total stations, laser scanning, UAVs, and high‑density spatial data across CAD and GIS platforms.
Assist with survey data management, control, and quality assurance, producing accurate, defensible survey outputs suitable for design, construction, and legal purposes.
Balance field and office work, contributing to processing, reporting, and coordination while learning best‑practice workflows.
Work collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary project teams, communicating clearly with engineers, planners, contractors, and councils
