He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role


This peer-led role facilitates mental health & addictions wellbeing workshops and mentoring opportunities for the peer community. These are designed to develop skills and abilities, enabling people facing mental health challenges to lead their own recovery journey.


We are committed to fully representing the voice of those who use our services and ensuring that those who have lived with their own mental health and addiction challenges can enjoy the evidenced benefits to recovery that employment provides. You will use your non-judgemental attitude and beliefs to peer support tāngata whaiora towards recovery.


We have a Permanent Part-Time position available (20 hours per week).


Duties of the role include:


  • Working with fellow peer facilitators to deliver recovery-focused workshops in the community. 

  • Workshops are delivered throughout the Wellington and Kapiti Coast region.

  • Developing new workshop series and content.

  • Providing one-to-one peer support to workshop participants.

  • Developing innovative marketing approaches and presenting to clinical teams and other organisations.

  • Liaising with other organisations.

  • IT administration duties.


Ideally, you will have the following:


  • You will have had a journey with mental health and/or addiction, and are willing to share about your recovery.

  • A Level 4 (or higher) qualification in Mental Health and Addiction

  • Demonstrated lived experience and commitment to recovery values.

  • IT administration skills (Ms Office suite)

  • Must be eligible to work in New Zealand.

  • You must have a Full New Zealand driving licence.

  • Demonstrated commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and culturally safe practice.
